Krasnodar, 7 November – Yug Times. Thousands of people gathered in Krasnodar last Saturday for National Unity Day.
Before the ceremonial events, over 3,000 Kuban students took part in a flash-mob held in the square in front of the regional Legislative Assembly. The students performed a dozen of folk dances — Russian dance tune, lezghinka, sirtaki, and others — to demonstrate the unity and friendship of the ethnic groups that live in Kuban.
Addressing the audience, Governor Veniamin Kondratiev stressed the importance of the unity of all Russian peoples.
“In Kuban, hundreds of nations live side by side in piece,” stated Mr. Kondratiev. “A people can be called great only if they keep the connection between different generations, gratitude to their roots, and remain linked with a common invisible thread, common customs, culture and values.”
Speeches of welcome were followed by an open-air concert, watched by a 15,000-strong audience.
