Krasnodar, 2 November – Yug Times. According to the regional Ministry for Resorts, Tourism and Olympic Heritage, in January — September 2017 the Krasnodar region received about 14.4 million tourists, or 100,000 more than over the same period last year. The most popular holidaymaking destinations traditionally were Sochi, Anapa, Gelendzhik and the Tuapse rayon.
The overall trend shifted to a cheaper product this year — consequently, the structure of the tourist arrivals changed. For instance, campsites became one of the most popular kinds of holidaymaking. During the season, all 100 campsites in the region were filled to 85 to 90% capacity.
A number of other facts have also proved that the situation changed.
“Credit must go to Turkey for the fact that during the 2017 season Russian hotels did not raise their prices,” says Dmitri Bogdanov, Director of the Znanie Spa and Resort Complex in Sochi. “That country drew off part of the economy-class customers. I would also like to note that when in May there was news that Russia might cancel charter flights to Turkey, our [Russian] hotels at once raised their prices by 10 to 15%. Then the news was denied, and the hoteliers had to bring the prices down.”
