Krasnodar, 1 November – Yug Times. The fixed-run taxis, or so-called marshrutkas, did not work for three days last week in Novorossiysk because of the drivers’ strike.
The carriers asserted that the city’s passenger traffic was being re-divided, and expressed disappointment over the allegedly nontransparent and complicated procedure of allotment of the municipal routes. As a result, it was the townsfolk that suffered - from 23 until 25 October they were left without usual public transport.
At his meeting with the strikers, Vice Governor Aleksei Kopaigorodsky proposed a variant to resolve the problem. According to him, a special workgroup may help in this situation.
“[The workgroup] will consist of public activists and city officials,” stressed Mr. Kopaigorodsky. “Its mission will be to develop the ‘roadmap’ aimed at further interaction.”
