One of the items of the business agenda of the forum was a session of its Expert Council, organized by Leontiev’s Centre and Administration of the Krasnodar region. The topic for discussion was set forth in the following way: “Strategy for Krasnodar Region: Realistic Ambitions?”
Vice Governor Igor Galas, the main speaker for the session, designated the seven flagship projects of the document, five of which corresponded with the region’s traditional development trends — ecologically-sound agro-industrial complex; smart industry; tourism and recreation; trade, transport and logistic; and social and creative industries.
However, in order to be successful in these segments of the region’s economy, it will be necessary to overcome several problems revealed in the course of diagnostics, of which the most serious ones are lack in the quality of the human resources and innovative development, and imperfect institutional environment.
“Kuban may not be the worst region in Russia in this regard, but we are not in the lead either,” stated Mr. Galas. “And we are not happy with it, especially bearing in mind that we have set an ambitious task to be competitive in Russia and beyond.”
Assessing the quality and potential of the Strategy, the participants of the Expert Council noted its ambitiousness and aspiration to work for the future.
