Krasnodar, 5 October – Yug Times. The founding congress of the Union of Kuban Cossack Youth was reportedly held in Krasnodar on September 27.
At this point, the new structure is to unite over 85,000 students of the Cossack classes, secondary and military schools. The founders claim the Union will become a new impetus towards the development of Cossack movement in the Kuban region and throughout the country.
On that day, about a thousand delegates came to the Great Hall of the Drama Theatre in Krasnodar to become part of contemporary history, witness the birth of a new youth movement that may one day become a brand project of the Kuban region.
“It was me who initiated the foundation of the Union of Cossack Youth, and I’m not ashamed of that,” announced Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev in his welcoming speech. “I understand that Kuban must have the future, and the future of our region is now sitting in this hall.”
According to Mr. Kondratiev, the Union should not only serve for the preservation and development of traditional Kuban culture but become a ground for accomplishment of various new projects, a sort of startup for the young generation in fulfillment of their ideas on improvement of life standards in the region.
In his turn, Vice Governor and Ataman of the Kuban Cossack Host Nikolai Doluda asserted that foundation of the Union would become a historic event for the region.
“There has never been suchlike organization in the contemporary history of our country,” said he. “It is a fully new movement that should unite all students of the 3,500 Cossack classes and 7 military schools. We have recognized a need for the young Cossacks to continue the tradition of valiant service to Fatherland.”
