Krasnodar, 27 September – Yug Times. Vladimir Beketov, the veteran chairman of the Kuban Legislative Assembly, is going to become a Senator, which is why the regional parliament needs a new spokesperson.
According to a decision of the regional political council of the United Russia Party taken a few days ago, Mr. Beketov will replace Vladimir Kharlamov as a Senator.
Speaking at the council, Nikolai Gritsenko, secretary of the United Russia’s regional branch and vice chairman of the Legislative Assembly, characterized Mr. Beketov as “a personality with a huge political and life experience. His nomination has been backed by Kuban Governor Veniamin Kondratiev.”
In his speech, Mr. Beketov noted that he had chances to work at the federal level in the past: in 2011 and 2016 he twice vacated his seat of a federal MP — but now it is time to use the knowledge accumulated in the Kuban region at a higher level.
Vladimir Beketov has been chairing the Kuban parliament since 1995. Who will take this post will be known on September 27, the United Russia will elect the leader of their parliamentary faction.
