Krasnodar, 22 September – Yug Times. Choppers, two-wheeled motorcycle taxis, may help resolve the permanent problem of traffic jams in Krasnodar.
Presently a common weekday evening scene is Krasnodar motorists standing in kilometers-long traffic jams and envying bikers that can easily detour and evade the congestions. Nonetheless, nobody has heard about any plans to launch motorbike taxis in the city. Why so? The primary and probably the most important reason is that law does not mention such passenger service. The second reason (however it may really become a reason only when the first one has been settled) states that solid investments are needed to start such motorbike taxi service that the passengers would not have to wait for them for a long while. The third reason is that motorcyclists are individualists valuing personal freedom — and often to the detriment of safety.
Commenting on a possibility to launch chopper taxis in Krasnodar, Aleksandr Lubomirsky, deputy director of the regional traffic control police, confirmed that presently the activity of motorbike taxis is not regulated by any normative document that controls passenger transportation.
