Krasnodar, September 13 – Yug Times. On the single voting day held in most Russian regions on September 10, the attention of Kuban voters was riveted on the election of deputies of the regional Legislative Assembly.
One hundred and sixty five candidates were running for 35 seats in the single member constituencies. Another 35 seats were to be determined by party lists.
“The voting in the Krasnodar region took place quietly, without serious violations, fully in the framework of current law,” stated Governor Veniamin Kondratiev. According to the regional election committee, the attendance nearly reached 40%. Mr. Kondratiev stated that the Kuban residents traditionally showed quite high activity and thanked all who came to the polling stations. “There is no doubt that the Kuban people have voted for the deputies whom they will trust,” asserted Mr. Kondratiev.
United Russia party reportedly received most of the seats in the newly elected Legislative Assembly. At the same time, representation of the opposition parties will also be considerably higher than before.
