The Golden Hearts Foundations is one of the few organizations that render comprehensive charity – its activists collect material aid and render the so much required psychological and legal support.
“Since we were officially registered last February, we rented premises for weekly free consultations of our psychologists,” explained Marina Smirnova, head of the Foundation. “It is there that we hold master classes for single mums teaching them sought-after professions. We also render free legal advice and help to people in trouble.”
“Many people that need social aid are not legally safeguarded by state. It happens when people cannot legally prove their status of needy persons – for instance, they are not employed officially, or they can’t get the documents they need. So it was to help them we organized a free consultation centre on the basis of our Foundation.
“You know, if you start diving into this issue you will see that despite all conversations about our socially oriented society, a lot of Russian people are absolutely not protected socially. They are not aware of their rights, they don’t know whom to apply for help, and their hard material and psychic state often leads them to thinking about suicide. And we are trying to take these people out of the pinch they are in.”
